October 28- November 1
What is it?
The purpose of Red Ribbon Week is for Southern students to join other schools and communities across the country int taking a visible stand against substance abuse. We will be participating in red ribbon week with dress up days. Check out the schedule below. Drug and alcohol education classes throughout the week, a door decorating contest, and an essay and poster contest are also taking place in the middle school.
The Red Ribbon Campaign was started when drug traffickers in Mexico City murdered DEA agent Kiki Camarena in 1985. This began the continuing tradition of displaying Red Ribbons as a symbol of intolerance towards the use of drugs. The mission of the Red Ribbon Campaign is to present a unified and visible commitment towards the creation of a DRUG-FREE AMERICA.
